True to its call to save lives, the Health Emergency Management Staff is the country’s prime mover in responding to emergencies and disasters.
The health emergency management has been lauded for the way it prepared for and managed national and international emergencies and disasters. HEMS was mandated by the DOH with AO No. 155, regarding the implementing guidelines for Managing Mass Casualty Incidents during emergencies and disasters that prescribes Basic Life Support training as mandatory to all healthcare personnel, medical students and communities as part of capability building. AO 155 mandated the HEMS to implement the Basic Life Support Training as one of its main and highlighted activities for the year round. CRMC HEMS is committed to making the entire country prepared for any emergency and disasters and to make effective management and response a way of life to reduce morbidity and mortality. The training aimed to develop and equipped the public to adequately respond to and manage health emergencies. The training was participated by 64 first year midwifery students of Dr. P. Ocampo Colleges Incorporated. The course focused on building the emergency response capabilities of the students. It provided them knowledge and skills that will enable them to provide efficacious assessment of an emergency situation, effectively performed Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and able to give ventilations and to performed Foreign Body Airway Management. The participants were given ID with individual registration numbers and certificates if they were able to pass the written examination and the practical skill test. All 64 participants were able to complete and pass the requirements of the training.
