Social Hygiene Awareness Lay Forum (February 12, 2020)
The CRMC HIV/AIDS CORE TEAM conducted an HIV lay forum on HIV/ AIDS 101 and free Screening at CCNHS – Main Campus on February 12, 2020. The purpose of this activity was to enlighten the youth about HIV/ AIDS and to be our active partners and HIV advocates in spreading awareness and prevention. During the day of activity, the lay forum and free screening, which were open to all willing students and teachers, were divided into two (2) batches of senior high school students.
The activities were participated by approximately 180 participants. In the lay forum, the resource speakers were Dr. Nor-Aine P. Kansi who discussed the HIV 101, Mr. Gabriel B. Sero who discussed R.A. 11166 and Ms. Merlyn T. Fortich who presented counselling orientation. During the lay forum, attendees asked some questions about HIV/ AIDS.
After the event, the participants who were willing to undergo counselling and screening proceeded to the counselling area. The counsellors assigned were Dr. Annelyn Grace C. Sabanal-Amoc, Ms. Merlyn T. Fortich RN, Ms Noraina Arumpac, Ms. Theresa Miro, Ms. Jesselle Mationg, Ms. Alessa Normina Taki and Ms. Carolyn Matandac. During the counselling, each participant was given a consent by their assigned counsellor, and they asked information about their history exposure. After the counselling, the participants proceeded to undergo blood extraction for HIV screening test which was faciliated by Mr. Peter Carumba, a Medical Technologist and with his three (3) Medical Technologist staff.
The total number of participants who underwent lay forum was 180. Among the total participant, 63 consented for HIV counselling and screening test.
