International AIDS Candle Light Memorial
May 18, 2020
The International AIDS Candlelight Memorial serves as a community mobilization campaign to raise social consciousness about HIV and AIDS. With 38 million people living with HIV, its serves as an important intervention for global solidarity, breaking down barriers of stigma and discrimination, and giving hope to new generations.
In line with this, the CRMC HIV/AIDS Core Team commemorated the AIDS Candlelight Memorial on May 18, 2020, Monday at 8:30 AM. In this occasion, HACT together with the HEPO Unit distributed red ribbons to all CRMC employees and wore their red ribbons which symbolized the collective pursuit to spread awareness and support to all people living with HIV/AIDS. It was followed by a simple prayer (AVP) dedicated to all people who lost their lives and who were victims of this disease.
Despite the observance of the Candlelight Memorial, we are currently experiencing the amok of COVID 19 pandemic and because of this we must support our families and communities to stay healthy. We must take action as we face this challenge of fighting against HIV and COVID. We must also remember our loved ones who lost their lives due to these kinds of diseases. Let us fight together to END this PANDEMIC.
Let us pray for those persons who experience pain, fear of acceptance from these diseases. Our support is the best remedy that we can share for those persons who suffered from this. Let us boost their confidence to conquer their fear. As part of this organization, we shall serve and support them. We heal us ONE!
The memorial theme for this year was “We Remember, We Take Action, We Live Beyond HIV.”.
