Cotabato Regional and Medical Center (CRMC), the end-referral tertiary medical center of Region XII and BARMM,
hold the groundbreaking ceremony of its proposed Medical Social Work Department/ Malasakit Center Building
The proposed Medical Social Work Department/ Malasakit Center Building is a 2-storey building with offices of the partner agencies. It is situated in a 300 square meter portion of land inside the CRMC compound beside the Dilangalen Cancer Care Building. The new building will offer a one-stop-shop for all medical and financial assistance provided by different government agencies such Department of Health (DOH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHIC), and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) for indigent and financially incapacitated patients incurring out-of-pocket expenses for their treatment or hospitalization. At present, CRMC Malasakit Center is catering to 8,000 to 10,000 clients per month. This project will provide better and more convenient access to public health services especially for the poor.
The groundbreaking ceremony of the new Medical Social Work Department/ Malasakit Center Building was led by Dr. Ishmael R. Dimaren, Medical Center Chief II of CRMC. The ceremony was graced by the main author of the Malasakit Center Law Hon. Sen. Christopher Lawrence Tesoro "Bong" Go who delivered his speech. Among the guests are Cotabato City Mayor Atty. Frances Cynthia J. Guiani- Sayadi, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao Mayor Datu Shameen Biruar Mastura, Cotabato City Vice Mayor Graham Nazer G. Dumama, and representative from DSWD-Region 12.
