The Cotabato Regional and Medical Center (CRMC) has been designated as one of the Sub - National Laboratories in the country for Vaccine Preventable Diseases such as Measles, Rotavirus and Japanese encephalitis by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).
On November 3, 2021, Dr. Ishmael R. Dimaren, Medical Center Chief of the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center (CRMC), had a meeting with the representatives of the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) led by Ms. Leonibel Reyes and representatives from the Department of Health - Center for Health and Development SOCCSKSARGEN (DOH-CHD). Important matters were discussed to include donating various medical equipment to be used in the Laboratory from RITM to CRMC. The donation will consist of Refrigerated Centrifuge, Elisa Microplate Reader, Calibration Kit for EIA reader, Elisa Microplate Washer, Incubators, Vortex Mixer, Biomedical Freezer, Pharma Refrigerator, Autoclave, Pipette Machine, Biosafety Cabinet, Analytical Balance, and Magnetic Stirrer.
These machines and equipment are much needed to provide quality services as Sub - National Laboratory for Vaccine Preventable Diseases. It is expected that these machines will be turned over to CRMC by the end of the year.
Aside from Dr. Ishmael R. Dimaren, also present during the meeting were Dr. Sherjan P. Kalim, Officer-in-Charge Chief Medical Professional Staff, and at the same time head of the Molecular Laboratory, Chief Medical Technologists Ms. Venus Mendoza, Mr. Jobert A Castillon, Mr. Peter Carumba, and all Medical Technologists of CRMC.
The following day, the RITM representatives made an ocular assessment to the Laboratory for any improvement to comply with requirements. Likewise, some Laboratory staff must undergo rigid training in preparation for the operationalization of the Laboratory.
