The CRMC Diabetes Prevention and Control Program recently celebrated the World Diabetes Day last November 17, 2021, with an aim to increase an awareness of the effects of diabetes and the complications caused by the disease.
With a theme of “Access to Care: If Not Now, When?”, it highlighted healthy lifestyle as well as the alternative use of technology and social media in the acquisition of knowledge and access to health and care as a response to the current global situation brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. The activity was a success with the support of the CRMC Top Management headed by our Medical Center Chief, Dr. Ishmael R. Dimaren. The two-hour activity provided an opportunity to disseminate information pertaining to diabetes and the diabetes diet. It was participated by 97 active male and female participants (lay and CRMC personnel) via Zoom and CRMC FB Live platforms. Topics were about diabetes awareness as well as diabetes diet delivered as prerecorded lectures, after which, a live virtual interaction was done in order to give an opportunity to clarify and ask some questions. Virtual Q&A was conducted which brought an advance holiday treat of basketful of goodies to all who answered the questions correctly. Furthermore, free FBS and Lipid Profile tests were given to 20 DM Club members two days prior the actual celebration, with an aim of monitoring their pertinent diabetes-related blood chemistry tests.
