Lao, chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology conducted the 2 nd Pelvic Organ Prolapse Surgical Mission. This activity is a continuation of the 1 st mission held last June 13 to 17, 2022. The mission targets to accommodate 6 cases which need surgical interventions. Clients were prescreened prior the procedure and were cleared to go with the surgery.
Pelvic organ prolapse is when 1 or more of the organs in the pelvis slip down from their normal position and bulge into the vagina. It can be the womb (uterus), bowel, bladder or top of the vagina. A prolapse is not life threatening, but it can cause pain and discomfort. Symptoms can usually be improved with pelvic floor exercises and lifestyle changes, but sometimes medical treatment is needed.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology extends its gratitude to the management of the hospital for their support of the activities. As an accredited residency training department, the department gives the best training experience and prepares its physicians to become competitive and caring doctors in the field of OB and Gynecology.
